Tip of the Week: Announce your intentions to the world!
Well maybe this is procrastinating, but before I actually open a single box I’d like to talk to you about what I’m going to do. I’m going to clean out my garage, and I am going to share each step here on this page. My purpose? To give hope to others who need to purge an overstuffed space.
By blogging and vlogging about unearthing my garage, I have a sense of purpose. If I commit to telling you about this overwhelming project, maybe I’ll actually do it.
Let’s focus on the word commitment. By committing to you that I will detail my garage-emptying journey on this blog, I’m kind of manipulating myself into actually getting the task done. Here goes.
I first posted the video above on Facebook, introducing this undertaking to my social media circle. The response was great. “Close your eyes and just throw out,” they wrote on my feed. “Good luck” and, um, “I feel better about my garage now” followed. I chuckled, I felt inspired and … another week went by without action.
TIP OF THE WEEK: To take the first step, just pick out a small thing to organize that will make you feel better.
(For Example: I chose to take a small box of travel magnets and find some metal to place them on. This did nearly nothing in regards to cleaning up my garage but I could look at them and they make me happy!) https://www.youtu.be/watch?v=A9BKiZJncao
OK, it’s time. I’m doing this thing. I am unearthing my garage.
